FNB Donates to the Feeding America Program

feeding-america-donation-check-2012In 2012, FNB Bank donated $3,100 to the Feeding America Program benefiting students from Mayfield and Graves County Schools.  For the past two years, FNB employees from the Graves County offices elected to serve the Feeding America BackPack Program through their philanthropic fundraising efforts.

FNB employees coordinated and participated in numerous events benefiting Feeding America throughout 2012, including a chili lunch, bake sale, cookout, GCHS student car wash and a concession stand during the Graves County and Mayfield football game.

Feeding America is the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity.  Their mission is to feed America's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger.

The Feeding America Program is based out of the Purchase Area Development District (PADD) office and serves schools in Fulton, Carlisle, and Graves County, with the addition of one school in McCracken County.  PADD works with each school’s Family Resource/Youth Services Centers to fulfill the weekly mission of supplying food to the students.  On average, the program serves 500 students per week by providing a “BackPack” filled with nutritious and easy-to-prepare food items for the student to take home on weekends and holidays during the school year.

To support one student through the program for an entire year requires $100 to cover all of the program expenses.  To learn more about the Feeding America Program, please contact Clay Black, Commodities and Food Bank Coordinator with the PADD office at (270) 627-3809 or by e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. The class will be offered from January thru April 2013 to participating students during their high school Enrichment period and will count as a GUI 095 college course credit.  Sherri Anderson with AmeriCorps VISTA will coordinate and teach the program.
